Beautiful church and exhibitions to learn about Icelandic history.
The first church in Iceland was built at Skálholt around the year 1000. Today, Skálholt is visited for the new cathedral, the tomb of bishops, the museum, and the collection of ancient books in the tower - and not least "the unforgettable concerts held in the church".
Historical place where the last catholic bishop in Iceland was executed 1550. Approximately 48 km distance
