Palace of Porphyrogenitus [Tekfur Sarayı in Turkish] is the best preserved Byzantine palace surviving in Istanbul. Tekfur Sarayı served as a Byzantine imperial palace until 1453, the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottomans. In the 18th century, a ceramic tile workshop was established here and it produced ceramic and ceramic tiles until the mid-nineteenth century.
