Nice place to take a hike and experience the close nature around Oslo city. Tram from Oslo Central Station - apr. 40min. You'll get a good view of Oslo City and the fjord from Frognerseteren Cafè (which also have fantastic apple pies).

If you want to go hiking you should go to Frognerseteren. You get here by metro, but it's a long ride (at least 30 min from central station). From Frognerseteren there are many different hikes to take that vary in difficulty. You should probably stop by DNT (The Norwegian Tourist Agency) in the city centre to do some research before hiking.

An area where people go hiking, cross-country skiing, sledging, or just sitting at the restaurant for a coffee and apple pie, if not for the buffet lunch.

At Frognerseteren you can look at the view of Oslo. Drink a cup of warm chocolate or coffee in the nice restaurant. Have fun by sledging down the Korketrekkeren (sledge can be rented there).
