Every year, the streets of Notting Hill come alive with the sounds, sights, and energy of the Notting Hill Carnival, Europe’s largest street festival. In this dance workshop, you’ll learn iconic Caribbean dance moves and wear vibrant costumes that bring the spirit of Carnival alive.
• We’ll begin with introductions, warm-up exercises, and stories about the rich history of this cultural celebration.
• Next, I’ll teach you some traditional dance moves. As our live DJ spins Caribbean songs from the past and present, you’ll whine, squat, twerk, and twirl.
• You’ll have a chance to try on authentic Carnival costumes, wings, and headdresses. Once we’re all dressed up, we’ll practice your newfound moves with a mini Carnival dance party!
There will be plenty of time for photos in your Carnival costumes. You’ll leave the class with fresh new moves to break out at your next party, as well as a deeper appreciation for the energy and artistry of Carnival.
